Caroline 18
ST LAWRENCE RIVER SAILING & ROWING SKIFF
Caroline 18 is based on the pure elegance of the original Miller-designed skiff, surpassed only by the gracious Caroline of Grindstone Island in the heart of the Thousand Islands region of the historic St Lawrence River. It isn’t superfluous to label the Caroline 18 as classic, pretty, engaging, capable, fast, unique, museum-worthy, and much more. Lines were meticulously pulled from the original Miller Skiff using lasers and much careful and tedious effort — of course, it was a cold, windy, and damp day — so it frequently goes on the St Lawrence River, which empties the Great Lakes into the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a mighty River plied by everything from a sailboard to ocean-going cargo ships. The St Lawrence will challenge everything that floats upon it — the Caroline has proven worthy for approximately a hundred years.

A Quick Skiff
And she’s fast, having repeatedly won many a sailing regatta — or was it Caroline’s skipper skill set? There’s no doubt that the Caroline 18 Skiff is quick and responsive. She’s a genuine representation of St Lawrence River Skiffs as they were designed more than a hundred years ago. One will soon find its home at the famous Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY, right on the St Lawrence River. The St Lawrence River Skiff was traditionally used both commercially as a work or guide boat and for recreational purposes. The hull lends itself to a safe and stable yet lively and exciting ride, especially due to the lightweight construction using hi-tech space-age materials and construction techniques.
How She's Made
Each laminate includes CPR — Critical Placement Reinforcing, and all hulls are produced using state-of-the-art hi-tech materials and technology. Kevlar, Carbon, and Innegra combined with the Vacuum Infusion Process of laminating ensure light weight, high strength, and pipe-like stiffness. In other words, peak performance across the scale. Vacuum-infused hulls result in the optimal resin-to-fiber ratio, which provides the absolute best possible strength-to-weight ratio.
The choices are yours: a basic rowing and/or sailing version or the once-in-a-lifetime creation of your fantasy Skiff that is destined to become a family heirloom. Classic joinery and outfitting, or keep it simple and functional. Anyway you want it, the Caroline 18 will bring years of pleasure, relaxation, and excitement to you and those you care about.
